Obituary of Edward T King, Sr.
Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward T King, Sr was born in Camden NJ on 3/4/1970 to the late Edward T Bell Jr, and Gwendolyn Delores Peeples King. He was the 6th child out of 7 boys. All of the brothers looked up to Eddie, he was the glue that held them together. Sadly on 8/13/2024 Eddie lost his battle to cancer at home with his loved ones.
Eddie attended Camden County Public Schools, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson, class of 88. During his high school years, he played football starting out as the water boy due to his size, until he proved he was a force to be reckoned with. Going head up with the biggest player on the team he gained his respect and earned the name “Chicken Hawk”. That year and moving forward he became captain of the team proudly wearing #50.
At the tender age of 18, Eddie gave his life to Christ and was baptized after graduating high school. He then attended Lehigh University for 1 year and decided to come home and take care of his daughter at the age of 19. From that day forward Eddie lived for his family. He was a man of immense integrity kindness and generosity, always lending a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed partying, Hip Hop, Jazz, and dancing.
Eddie was very determined and dedicated to learning new trades. He ended up mastering the trade Electricity and became an electrician for Camden County Board of Education. He worked there for many years while overcoming many obstacles in his life. He was proud of his 2 years sobriety, a journey he was embraced with strength, determination and commitment.
Edward was proceeded in death by his Father Edward T. Bell Jr. his mother Gwendolyn Delores Peeples King. His 3 brothers Gary King/Patrice, Micheal Booker King, and Brian King.
Edward wakes to cherish memories, his wife, Cheryl King, together for over 37 years (3 children) Danika S. King, Eddie T. King Jr, Kayla S. King (4 grandsons) Branden M. Fields, Elijah S. King, Ezra A. King, and Ezekiel I. King. His 3 brother and 3 sisters in law Shawn King/Tina, Robert King/Jina, Corbett King and Kamar Hunter/Jason. Goddaughter Asaiya Jones, and a special cousin Gina Harley. His dear friends Portia Freeman and Jamie Scherrer and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eddie may have left this world, but his spirit will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Rest in Peace Dear father, you will truly be missed.
