Obituary
Betty Jean Mitchell, daughter of Robert Lee Mitchell Sr. and Gladys Mitchell was born on October 7, 1942 in Jacksonville Florida. She peacefully departed her life on earth on Saturday August 10, 2024 at a nursing facility in Cherry Hill, NJ where she was meticulously cared for by nurse Angel Smith.
As a young child, Betty moved from Florida to Georgia. Ultimately, making her way to Camden NJ where she was educated. After attending Woodrow Wilson High School, Betty married and began her family in the Centerville section of Camden, New Jersey.
Betty worked briefly in the clerical field before finding her niche in the medical field. Her passion for helping others lead her to a career as a Visting Nurse. After many years in the field, she retired in 1986.
Betty enjoyed sewing, attending social clubs, watching her favorite soap operas (channel 10) and enjoying good food. Oh, how she loved to eat a good meal, lol. Even more than food, she enjoyed a good belly laugh with her family. In fact, the more laughs she was having, the better she was!
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Mitchell Sr. and Gladys Mitchell and son Kenneth “Kenny” Kee.
Betty was survived by her son Harold (Stacy), daughter Jewel (Allan), brother Robert “Bob” Mitchell Jr. Loving grandchildren, Sheron, Kareem, Hasshon, Takia, Kapria, Kenneth Jr, Shanyse and Christian. She was affectionately known as Nana to 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as a host of many other relatives and friends.
