Please share a memory of Willie Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Willie Mae Robinson was born on March 17, 1940, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late John Henry and Carrie Branch. This loving, devoted, and faithful child of God was called from labor to reward on August 19, 2024, at the Samaritan Center at Voorhees.
Willie Mae attended CW Johnson High School where she excelled in academics and where she met and later married Joseph Robinson. From this union 3 daughters were born. Willie Mae and Joseph along with their two older daughters, Gail and Sybil, moved to Philadelphia for a better life for themselves. They later welcomed their third daughter, Josie, to their beautiful family.
Willie Mae began her career working for the City of Philadelphia. While there, Willie Mae moved up the ranks holding several positions. She was much respected and made lasting friendships. She retired from the City of Philadelphia after working over 20 years.
Willie Mae was a devoted Christian who attended church regularly. Willie Mae was a member of Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church in Sicklerville, New Jersey until she was unable to attend due to her illness. Wille Mae always had an open-door policy and treated everyone with so much respect, kindness and love. She had great friends, and they often went out for lunches and yearly trips to Las Vegas. She loved her family, and she was known affectionately as Mom, Mae, Grandma or Ganny.
In her later years, when diagnosed with dementia and needed more care, she had wonderful caretakers who cared for her as if she was their own mother as that was the type of person she was. Even though she wasn’t able to verbalize it they knew she felt their love. She was truly blessed by them.
Willie Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her daughter, Gail Holland. She leaves to mourn her loving daughters, Sybil Pratt of Sicklerville, New Jersey and Josie Robinson of Clementon, New Jersey, her fourth daughter by love not blood, Donna McGhee of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her son, the Reverend Gerald A. (Julia) Tucker of Columbia South Carolina, her sister Shirley Stevenson of Hillside New Jersey, sister-in-law, Carrie Branch of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her grandchildren, Frank Holland , Elise Pratt, Milton Pratt III, Jalen Robinson, Ashley Lloyd, Betina Tucker and host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Willie Mae’s memory and kind spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be forever missed.
Sorrowfully Submitted.
