Obituary of Henry Haliburton
Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry G Haliburton, son of the late William F. and Minnie Lee Haliburton, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024. He was born on May 28, 1931, in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Henry was a member of Union Baptist Church in Waynesboro at an early age. He was educated in the Waynesboro school system. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, deployed to Korea and North Africa during the Korean War.
After honorable discharge from the Air Force, Henry attended North Carolina A&T State University, earning a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. Later, he also attended the University of Pennsylvania, Villanova University, Rutgers University, and Camden State College.
After his graduation from N.C. A&T, Henry married his college sweetheart, Christine Williams, on October 12, 1957. From this union came their daughter, Phyllis Elaine.
Henry was employed by the Department of Defense at Frankford Arsenal and the Defense Industrial Supply Center, in Philadelphia. He retired in 1986 with 32 years of government service. In retirement, Henry volunteered with Rutgers Co-op as a financial counselor.
Henry spent a lot of his time pursuing his favorite sports—tennis, skiing, and golf. He was a member of the Haddonfield and Cherry Hill Tennis Clubs. As a member of the Blazers Ski Club, he and Christine skied all over the country, and Austria and Switzerland. He also golfed weekly with several groups.
Henry was also passionate about music, playing many instruments, including organ, piano, flute, and in the last few years, bass. His collection of jazz musicians was also quite extensive.
Henry was the last surviving member of his family of six brothers and two sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 67 years, Christine, daughter Phyllis, nephew Greg Williams (Althea) and niece Loran Wharton, along with a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
