Please share a memory of Anice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anice Marcella Dickerson was born February 11, 1932 in Somers point NJ. The eldest child of the late Joseph O. Dickerson, Sr and Bernice Murray. Anice was raised in Pleasantville Nj and attended the Pleasantville system and graduated from Pleasantville high school. Upon graduating, Anice met and married Robert Moore and welcomed first son Michael Moore on March 31, 1952. Not long after, Robert was called upon to serve his country. After passing ways, Anice found love again in John Caleb Wilcox Sr. As a result of this second union, Lorna Lynn Wilcox was born on July 26th, 1956, and John Caleb Wilcox Jr. a little bit after, on March 16, 1960. Even though she had children, she was always a hard and dedicated worker, securing multiple careers in her lifetime. However, the jobs who gave her the most joy was by way of assisting others through social work, counseling others and teaching school. Being the studious determined woman she was education was a top priority. She reentered the education realm, attending Camden Community College and Glassboro State College (Rowan University) to obtain her bachelor's degree in education and social work. Anice was one of the original employees and major consultants of a notable Rehabilitation Program (The Institute for Human Development), where she counseled and helped hundreds of people battle and beat substance abuse from 1976-1986. After assisting adults, she decided her talents would be more useful shaping and educating the youth. Anice began teaching in the Pleasantville school system from 1987-1992; then the Atlantic City school system from 1992 until her retirement teaching Special Education at the Atlantic City High School. While tackling all of these extraordinary feats; she was also a very active grandmother and active member of the sorority Phi Delta Lambda. One thing to note, Anice was unrelenting in her convictions in the way she lived her life. Soon after retirement in 2009, she relocated to Las Vegas with her special friend James Tribbett. Anice was the matriarch of her family. She was the "go to" for advice and encouraging words. She was not one to "sugar coat" anything. She was honest and would let you know how she felt without using one profanity. She very demure in that way. She carried herself with pride and dignity and was a loving mentor and friend to many. All who knew her, not only loved her, but respected her. She was intelligent, kind, considerate and caring- above all else, she was woman of God. She will be fiercely loved and sorely missed by all. Anice was preceded in death by sons, Michael Moore, John Wilcox Jr., sister Joanne Dickerson, brother Joseph Dickerson Jr. and great granddaughter Eva Taylor. She leaves behind to cherish her memories; Daughter Lorna Monk (Hooper); Siblings Rodney Dickerson (Judy), Carol Hall (Alfonso), Shiela Smith (Clarence); grandchildren Nytasha Taylor (Horace), Heather Wilcox, Jeffrey Monk (Danielle) and Cyle Wilcox; Great Grandchildren, Amar Young (Bry'onna) Shamara Tucker, Simone Young, Sydny Moore and Quinn French and great-great grandsons; Garry Rogers Jr and Hendrix Young and Special friend James Tribbett.
