Remembering my Father-in Law Oscar Lee Smith
I hoping he knew how dearly I loved him and how blessed I feel to have him love me. Dad I am so proud to have called you my father-in-law.
My heart is filled with so many memories of true affection from him to share. He was such a good man from the moment we first met in Albany, GA. Dad always show me kindness and love, asking about my family and for caring about those I love, even though he didnt really know them. Grandpa Smith shows our children and grandchildren the love of boiled peanuts being an ole country boy from Ocala. We text each other everyday until receiving a webcam for his computer, then he would switch off text one day and webcam another. Then dad became a (tech) technology lover and got himself an all in one toy I-Phone with all the features.(face time) Mom would often call me and say you know your father in-law went out brought a new toy. Dad I know that you were call for duty in the Army of the Lord.
Dad also loved the Lord he would often share these words with me when we had our alone time. (I'm here as a servant of the Lord) On his last visit 2013 Thanksgiving holidays dad extended his hand out to hold my hand during his dialysis treatment and said daughter, Timothy 4:6-7 read it and remember me. Of course I pick up my phone and recorder it in the voice recorder. With that note I handed dad my phone with his ear phones so that he could listen to a few of the songs we shared a like for together (Something about the name Jesus it is the sweetest thing I know by Rance Allen Group, Andrae Crouch, Let the Church say Amen, Let the Church say Amen, God has Spoken so let the Church say Amen and that familiar hymn Amazing Grace - Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me I once was lost, but now Im found was blind but now I see.
Mom, Donald, Toyota, Jenell and Kevin thank you for this most precious gift sharing your husband and dad with me and Im forever grateful that I had him for the time that I did.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Timothy 4:6 - 7
RIP Dad
