Vernon Lloyd Martin was born on April 12, 1936 to Verna and Edward Martin in Camden, NJ. he passed peacefully to heaven on Monday, June 20, 2016. He grew up in Camden and after attending Woodrow Wilson High School he served in the US Army until 1958. After the Army he worked for Flexon Mats for two years. He then worked for Precision Steel/Predco starting as a steel worker and diligently working his way up to Supervisor. He continued to excel to become a Manufacturer’s Agent and eventually owning his own company, The Vernon Martin Company, from which he retired.
He is survived by three daughters; Kim Nash, Karen Martin, Lynn Nicole Martin; one brother; Marvin Martin; three sisters; Jeanette White, Gloria Smith (Matthew), and Muriel Martin-Burns (Patrick). He was preceded in death by his parents; Verna and Edward Martin; three brothers, Edward Martin, Charles-Leroy Martin, and Arnold Martin.
Throughout his life, Vernon affectionately earned the nicknames Jughead and Bug Eye from his brothers and sisters but the best title he held was Dad. He was dedicated to all he held near and dear to his heart. He received many accolades of achievement in his business and was loved dearly by his children and family. The Army took Vernon to France, Predco took him to England but the rest of travels were in his beloved Candy Apple Red 1968 Cadillac Coupe de Ville with a white vinyl roof, white leather seats and all the bells and whistles which he kept showroom clean at all times.
