Obituary of Daisy Rebecca Roman-Evans
Mrs. Daisy Rebecca Roman-Evans, lovingly known to all as Babydoll, was born on May 22, 1938 to Mrs. Daisy May Roman (Oakley) and Mr. Garrett Cousins Roman. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her only sibling, her baby sister, Mrs. Brenda Wynona Harris (Roman), her first husband Mr. John Ellis Owens Jr., her second husband Mr. Leonard Evans, and her nephews Troy and Lamont Harris.
Daisy was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and graduated from Kensington High School where she concentrated in the area of secretarial trades and was quite a proficient typist, whose writing and reading skills were also second to none. She proudly raised her two daughters while she worked as a Key Punch Operator for The J. C. Penney Corporate Office. Daisy was said to have worked one day a week for Karen, one day of the week for Michelle, and the other three work days to pay the bills. She continued her education at National School of Medical Technology, where she earned certifications in Plabotamy and EKG Technology. Daisy was awarded the honor of Top Student of her graduat-ing class.
She loved working for the Lord as a deconess, choir member, and special events planner. Over the years, she enjoyed memberships at New Mount Mariah Baptist Church, Rome Emanuel, and Mount Siani Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. Most recently, she attended new membership classes at The First Baptist Church of Darby. Daisy also enjoyed traveling, shopping, donating to numerous worthy charities, and doing for others.
Daisy leaves to cherish her fond memories: her daughters Karen Owens-Jones and Michelle Owens, her son-in-law Jewel Jones Sr., her step-son Darral Hairston (Carol), her four grandchildren: Tu'Juana Wahid, Nelson Owens, Eric Taylor, Jewel Jones Jr., her grandson-in-law Muhummed Wahid, her 8 great-grandchildren: Brandon Wahid, Demetrius Wahid, Michelle Owens, Jahyvon Owens, Idris Owens, Eric Taylor Jr., twins, Amari, and Suraj Green, her nephew Kerman Harris, her neices Monica Harris and Marla Williams and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
