Obituary of Arthur J. Reese
Arthur Reese Jr., of Vineland, NJ, departed this life on November 9. 2017 at home surrounded by family. Arthur was born February 27, 1938,in Johnson County, Georgia, to the late Fletcher and Daisy Cummings. Arthur attended the Bridgeton Public School System, and graduated from Bridgeton High School. Following High School Arthur enlisted into the United States Air Force, and continued serving his country in the Army National Guard, until 1978.
Arthur was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Brotmanville, NJ under the leadership of Pastor Josephus Guinn Jr. Arthur served on the Trustee Board and Culinary Ministry at the Church.
Arthur’s first job was at the age of 11, working at Weinstein’s General Store, in Rosenhayn, NJ. There he learned to speak Spanish fluently, and often used it as a second language. Arthur was also employed at the Vineland Residential Center as a Youth Counselor for several years. He also attained his Commercial Drivers License and drove trucks for National Freight, and the Mayflower Trucking Companies. Arthur retired from Progresso Food Incorporated. Beginning in 2009 Arthur worked as Maintenance Supervisor for Bethany Baptist Association, at Camp Cedar Knolls until the summer of 2017, when his health began to fail.
Arthur enjoyed being with family and friends, cooking, and working on cars. His hobbies included collecting HESS trucks, and Western Black Art.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children:
Denise Bluitt(Harvey), of Millville, NJ., Tracy Carter (Rick) of Vineland, NJ, Marvin Washington of Detroit, Michigan, Anthony Reese of Vineland, NJ., Shyneice Carter (granddaughter) of Vineland, NJ, Gloria Carter (granddaughter), of Vineland, NJ, as well as six step-children; (Shreese Tomlin, Kashida Tomlin, Simone Willams, Malik Tomlin, Shaheed Tomlin, Jamal Williams). Arthur was predeceased by his daughter; Wanda Carter. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandchildren; Harvey Bluitt, III, (Vinceta), Jaquetta Spencer, Brian Bluitt, Porsha Carter, Kyree Miles, Karri Carter, Nasir Reese, and Anthony Reese Jr. As well as fourteen great- grandchildren.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his sisters: Doris Sullivan (Archie), Gertrude Benjamin (Earl), Daisy Ivery (Ronald), Frances White (Daniel), Marilyn Nobles (Alan), Mary Cirino (Anthony), Darlene Washington, all of Vineland NJ. Lillie Deshields (Charles) of Virginia, and Vicki Williams (Michael) of North Carolina.
His brothers: Chris Reese (Tammy) of North Carolina, Willie James (Alice) of Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
He was also predeceased by his brother; Willie Reese, as well as his sister- in- law; Leona Reese.
