To the family and friends of Mrs. Dixon, I extend my condolences and prayers. May God send his peace and comfort throughout this difficult time.
Mrs. Dixon was my third grade teacher at Stackhouse when I was 8 years old. She was my favorite teacher. When she discovered my love for music---she made me sing my favorite song in front of class, "The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston. She made me feel her conviction everytime she spoke. I remember practicing for the MLK play that she put together; feeling apart of something big. Often times when the other kids had money to order breakfast in the classroom and I didnt, Mrs Dixon would walk past my desk and place something there for me. Every summer we would pen pal until I moved and lost touch. Today she crossed my mind so heavy I began to google her and this is what I discovered....tears are still on my face as I type. Mrs. Dixon, I just missed you....devastating. However I will hang on to the most important thing you instilled in me, to believe in myself, and to share your gifts/talents with others. As an educator, thank you for going the extra mile. Thank you for the memories. Lastly, Thank you for the opportunity to be your student and friend. You will be deeply missed.
