Obituary of Deacon Kenneth G. Saunderson
"The voice of one crying in the wilderness." Kenneth was a powerful voice for the prophetic message for thes end times in the urban wilderness. For over four decades, he was firmly committed to the gospel ministry and to spreading God's undiluted , uncompromising and straightforward truth with clarity, conviction and passion.
This extroidinary messenger was born Kenneth George Saunderson, the sixth child, on March 1, 1917 to Reuben Saunderson and Francilla Bryce Saunderson. He grew up in Chapleton, Jamaica with his other siblings, Hilda, Florence Roslyn, Lena, Allan and Ena.
While working on cotract in the US, Kenneth met and married Essie Mae West and her seven children. He became an overnite dad to Dorothy, Evelyn, Elaine, Betty, Gerry, Dan and Janet. He joined the family in becoming a member of of Saint Paul Baptist Church in Vineland, NJ. He became consumed with sharing the gospel.The family later became members of St. James Baptist Church in Norma, NJ. He assisted and building a new church, teaching Sunday School, serving on both the Trustee and Deacon Boards and singing in the choir. Kenneth his family and gave unselfishly to those around him. He was a dedicated husband caring for his beloved Essie until we had to say goodbye to her on February 12, 1982.
One of his greatest joys was spending time on the telephone telling stories about when he was a young man in Jamaica. He spent the majority of those conversations talking about his Savior, Jesus Christ. He always gave God the glory! One of his favorite scriptures was "Matthew 5:16 :Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
He was a van driver for the Cumberland County Guidance Center and previously worked for Campbell Block which is now EP Henry Paving.
Our beloved Dad/POp-Pop/Deacon Saunderson leaves to cherish his memory, his son; Daniel Seegars (Melissa), three daughters; Evelyn Allen, Elaine Duncan-Gray(Larry), Essie Janet Lively(John), nieces; Hyacinth Spence, Eileen Maxwell, Yvonne Trye, Phyllis Forbes, Gloria Compton(James), Valerie Wright, Maureen Wright, nephews; Daniel Wright, Albert Tinling, twenty one grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, forty two great-great grandchildren, three great-great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, adopted and extended family and friends.
