Obituary of James Wesley
James Wesley also known as “Jay” was born October 30 1943 in Davisboro, Georgia to Robert and Ora Mae Wesley.
The Lord received him unto himself May 3, 2018.
He attended Carver Elementary School in Wadley Georgia. In 1960 Dad moved the entire family to Atlantic City, New Jersey where Jay graduated from Atlantic City High School.
He served in the U.S. Army, and did a tour of duty in Thailand in the transportation Dept. driving tractor trailers.
After coming home from the military he was blessed with a daughter, Albertine Godfrey Palmer.
He worked for a while in Philadelphia doing construction work, where he met and married the late Joan Johnson; from that union came another blessing, daughter Danielle.
He later met and married Dorothy James on his birthday, October 30, 1999.
He worked for New Jersey Transit for 40 years before retiring in January 2015.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church for a number of years, where he served as an usher. After moving to Vineland he moved his membership closer to home where he and his wife Dorothy worshiped together.
He leaves to cherish precious memories to: his wife, Dorothy James Wesley, Daughters; Albertine ( Darren) Palmer, Egg Harbor Township New Jersey, Danielle Wesley, Baltimore, Maryland; A son, Kenney James Jr. A sister, Eloise Wesley Smith, Macon, Georgia; brothers Clarence (Maria) Wesley and Pastor Roy (Marjorie) Wesley, Macon, Georgia, William Wesley Newtonville, New Jersey, and Minnie Wesley, (cousin raised as a sister) Macon, Georgia; sisters in law, Jackie Rice Vineland, New Jersey, Lillian Wesley Orlando, Florida; Grandchildren Scottie Godfrey (Deceased) Shahiriah Godfrey, Marcus and Marion Palmer. Great-grands; Seyonni Godfrey and Leshawn Haines. One Aunt, Gladys Walden Macon, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
