Obituary of Sandra Brown
Sandra Brown (Hester) was born in Camden, NJ on December 18th 1957 at 8:21 pm to the late Doris J Sye and Early Hester Sr.
She entered the Eternal Gates of Heaven to be greeted by Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 17, 2018.
Sandra was known and beloved by many as "Aunt Sandy"; and affectionately known by her grand children as "Mom Mom Sandy." She was known for her "High Spirit", "Crazy Personality", giving heart and free loving soul. She was educated in the Camden City Public School System.
She was a humanitarian by birth and rite, and as a result, her chosen profession in life was nursing. She started as a CNA and with faith and a lot of hard work, she rose in her profession. She obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing education and licensing through the Jerrothia Riggs Center Nursing Program in Camden, NJ and worked for years throughout the region at nursing homes and hospitals. Along her journey towards her professional pursuits, she met and ultimately married James Preston Brown Jr. in 1998. Together, they had their home constructed from the ground up in Burlington Township, NJ in 1999. She worked hard on her education throughout the 90's and by early 2000's had obtained her Registered Nursing License through the Methodist College in Philadelphia, PA. She had her first grandchild in 2000 and her second in 2002. Not even one second after they could walk, for the following years, she began to start traveling extensively with her beloved grand children and experiencing the blessed results of all of her hard work. At the same time she continued to further her studies by enrolling into Immaculata University's Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program. And By 2010, she had risen nearly to the top of her field and as a result she was employed as the Nursing Unit Manager at Lutheran Crossing at Moorestown in Moorestown, NJ. She not only worked hard in her profession, she also worked tirelessly toward helping in the building of the Kingdom of God.
She followed in her beloved late sister, good friend and Spiritual Mother, Earlene Thompson's (Hester) footsteps, along with her own personal convictions, by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. For many years she labored alongside Pastor Keith Davis and church family as a dedicated worker, diligent prayer interceder, helper and good friend in the work of the lord at Evangelism Today Christian Center in Camden, NJ. Her passion and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ permeated throughout her being and moved her to dedicate her life to the spread of the gospel and resurrection power of Christ. Even towards the end, during a time where she was carrying an extremely heavy burden, she is quoted in some of her last verbal communications with her children as to have said, "I just want my Life to be a reflection of the goodness of the Lord".
She loved everybody and everybody loved her. She gave of herself to others indiscriminately. She was known for having a "house full of kids". She was a bit of a hoarder in that she would stock pile pictures of all the memories of her life and the family and people she would encounter along the way. She would always gather up all of her family's children, her children, and their friends in many instances and have them all together. She would take all of the kids out on little small outings like the Mummers day Parades and Logan Circle Water Fountains in Philadelphia, PA to swim. She loved to have all of her nieces, nephews, and second cousins and her own children together at her house, regardless to where she resided. As she began to progress and experience life's blessings, so would they; because she would be there for everybody. She wanted everybody to know the importance of God, Unity and Family.
As much as she loved everybody, she held an even greater special place in her heart for her children and grand children. "Mommy" as her children called her and "Mom Mom Sandy" as her grand children would call her, gave everything in her power to make sure her family was ready for life. Everything she did, and every move she made she did it with her family in mind, and she will forever be missed and always remembered!
She leaves to cherish and carry on her memory: one daughter Tiffany S. Ways, two sons Lamont Ways & Michael E. Ways, four beloved Grand Children Charles Bullard, Malachi Mcneil-Ways, Gabriel Mcneil-Ways & Milan Ways. Four sisters: Janet Pugh, Karen Howard, Victoria Hester & Marjorie Mebane, and predeceased, Earlene Thompson. Two brothers: Stanley Hester & Nathan Hester. Three brothers in law: Jerome Howard, Mr. Pugh & William M. Mebane. Two Aunts: Alice Q. Hart & Jean Parker, Lifelong friends: Sylvia K. Polk and Elianne, one niece and a host of nephews, cousins & friends.
