Obituary of Thelma White
Thelma Mae White was born on April 22, 1928, the daughter of the late William Smith (Big Smitty) and the late Lenora Victoria Smith. Thelma was raised in Merchantville, New Jersey and educated in the Merchantville, New Jersey school system.
Thel, as she was affectionately called, met and married the late Allen “Buddy” White, Sr. in 1947. From that union 2 children were born, Allen “Junnie” White, Jr., Dennis “Denny” White and stepson, Ralph White.
Thel and Buddy moved to Camden, New Jersey in 1953 where they raised their family. In her early years she was employed by Campbell Soup Company in Camden, New Jersey where she worked for many years until her health failed and was no longer able to work. Thel always had a love for Atlantic City and was blessed to move there in her later years.
Thel was saved and loved the Lord. She touched the lives and hearts of many people. Her favorite hymn was “His Eye is on the Sparrow”. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Thel was preceded in death by Charles Smith, George Smith, Alfred Smith, Albert Smith, Elaine Lee and Richard Smith.
Thel leaves to mourn, 3 sons, Allen “Junnie” White, Jr. (Darella) of Somerdale, New Jersey, Dennis “Denny” White (Lynn) of Camden, New Jersey, Ralph White of Camden, New Jersey and former daughter-in-law, Mattie Ellis of Camden, New Jersey; 3 surviving brothers, William “Bill” Smith of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Thomas “Tommy” Smith of Collingswood, New Jersey and Anthony “Tony” Smith (Theresa) of Voorhees, New Jersey; 3 surviving sisters, Barbara Hawkins of Stratford, New Jersey, Doris Perkins of Camden, New Jersey and Carol Smith of Camden, New Jersey along with 8 grandchildren, Micki, Shonda, YuKeasha, Tarrus, Amika, Neicy, Dana, and step grandson, Esky and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends.
