Constance Joyce King
Constance Joyce King, beloved daughter of the late James Ellis and Janet Simmons, was born on January 4, 1946 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. She peacefully departed this life Thursday, February 28, 2019.
Constance was affectionately called “Connie” by family and friends. She was saved at a young age and walked with the Lord throughout her life. Connie was educated in the Mount Holly School District and later moved to Camden, New Jersey. She graduated from Camden High School in 1964. Later, she married Thomas King and they were blessed with a daughter.
Connie was a student at Glassboro State College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and was employed with the Camden Board of Education. She was a dedicated teacher to her students at East Camden Middle School. Later, she went on to teach English as a Second Language at the Jerrothia Riggs Adult Education Center and retired from education in 1998.
Connie was an active and devoted long-time member of Mount Calvary Church where she spearheaded the church’s daycare and was a member of the “Willing Workers”. She was also the president of her woman’s group, “Women Together”.
Connie loved to travel, cook and entertain family and friends. If you knew Connie well, you know she also loved to sparkle, shop and enjoyed her fragrances. You also know she was an extraordinary mother, daughter, sister, and friend who was extremely thoughtful, loving, and giving. Connie’s life was the blueprint of a phenomenal woman.
She was preceded in death by her sister Indy Choice and brother Stephen Ellis.
Connie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter; Cynthia King, granddaughter; Morgan King, one sister; Theresa Wynn, special friend and caregiver; Charles Williams, spiritual daughter; Robyne McLeod and a host of relatives and friends.
