Obituary
Obituary of Jeremiah Perry
Please share a memory of Jeremiah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeremiah Perry, affectionately known as Jerry, was born September 21, 1936, to Chillie and Margie Perry in Camden, SC. He was the second of 12 children.
Jerry spent his early years growing up in Philadelphia, PA. There he attended school and worked several jobs. During his career, he worked for Philadelphia Gas Works and The State of New Jersey. While he was trained in many areas, cooking was his passion. Throughout his 30 Plus years in the Food Industry, Jerry worked as a Sous Chef with Lintons Corporation and as the Breakfast Chef for Hilton – Double Tree Guest Suites.
As a resident of Philadelphia, Jerry met and married Gwendolyn Richardson. From this union came three children. Being surrounded by his family always brought joy to his heart. He enjoyed spending time with his Children and Grandchildren, hanging with his Brother-In-Laws, being spoiled by his Sisters and giving his Nieces/Nephews special nicknames: “Beat Yo Butt”, “The Boss” and “Big Mouth.”
One of Jerry’s greatest attributes was his kind heart. He would literally give the shirt off his back – along with his last dime. This gift of kindness was nurtured in him as a small child. As a young man, he accompanied his Mother to the daily prayer services at the Garden Of Prayer Church, under the leadership of Bishop and Mother Dabney. It was there that he was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. As life would go on, Jerry in his older age gained an even higher reverence in developing his relationship with God. He always carried TWO Bibles and would constantly be heard pleading, “The Blood Of Jesus!”
Jerry enjoyed life and found joy in dressing up, going for long drives and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. Furthermore, it was a known fact that he was unreachable when watching “The Young and The Restless.” Jerry will forever be remembered for his quick wit and his charming personality.
On the morning of Monday, October 12, 2020 – God summoned his angelic army to usher his Beloved Son, Jeremiah Perry, from LABOR to REWARD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!!!!
