Obituary of Blanche N Mack
Please share a memory of Blanche to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Blanche Nell Mack better known as "Blondell" was born on Nov 3, 1939 to the late George Myers Jr. and Minnie Mae Myers in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was the eldest of 9 children. She was a beautiful, smart and vibrant baby. As a small child she would help with everyday tasks, learning how to cook from her father and how to clean from her mother. Blondell was a quick learner she attended elementary and high school in the Bronx, New York.
In 1959 she met and married Elijah Mack. Although she held many titles "Mommy" was by far her favorite one she leaves 5 surviving children to cherish her memory. Blondell was no stranger to hard work she started her very first job at the young age of 12 years old, she would later go on to work at a shoe store, at Edmond's laundry service and for Plymouth Rock Meat Packing Company. One job that she enjoyed as much as motherhood was working at Greenwich Services in Philadelphia, PA. There she was promoted to a Care Supervisor. She nurtured and cared for mentally disabled adults and children with various disabilities. After 34 years of dedication to Greenwich Services she retired. Although retired Blondell still wanted to do more. She would later go on to enroll in the New Jersey State Home Care Services helping adults with disabilities on overnight stays in their home.
This schooling wasn't the only education she would take on later in life, she also found joy in studying the Bible with her granddaughter Ahesha who is one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Although she wasn't able to make a dedication to Jehovah she sincerely believed in the Bible's promise that there is going to be a resurrection of all our dead loved ones and they will live on a paradise earth.
Some of Blondell's favorite things to do was to watch cooking shows like "Yan Can Cook" it was an all time favorite of hers. Hoarders was another show she would watch (and she would say that's not going to be my house) she could watch channels 3, 6 and 10 all day long and not get bored. And let's not forget her love of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, she always wanted to be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune. When it came to getting beautified she would tell her granddaughter come on make me beautiful before getting her hair done, she loved to stay looking 'Sharp" as she would say. To talk to her was a joy as she very down to earth, she loved hard and had a big heart.
Blondell leaves to mourn, her 5 loving children Darra Smith, Teresa Greene, Michael, Kenneth and Troy Mack. She has one living Son In Law Anthony Smith, and two deceased Son In Law's Tyrone Stokes and David Greene, three Daughter In Law's Ericka, Kim and Kishon Mack.
