Chris W. Gaskins, III
(2/6/1958-10/25/2020)
After a sixty-two-year journey among us, Chris W. Gaskins, III was promoted to glory on October 25th, 2020.
Chris was born on February 6th, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA to Chris W. Gaskins Jr. and WilthiumCarter Gaskins (both deceased).
Chris’ education started in the Philadelphia Public School System. He attended Andrew Hamilton Elementary School @ 56th& Spruce and George W. Sharswood Elementary School @ 2nd& Wolf. The family moved to Willingboro, NJ in August of 1971. Chris continued his education in the Willingboro Public School System. He attended Memorial Junior High School & John F. Kennedy High School. After high school, Chris joined his father, Chris W. Jr. @ ControlCorrosion Corporation better known as ConcoCorporation in Lawnside, NJ. Not only was Chris W. Jr. an employee, but also a part owner of the company. While working together for many years, father and son had an opportunity to travel near and far for Conco Corporation. They even went as far as Belgium!
Chris was great with his hands! Besides his bricklaying and welding skills, he could fix anything. He was also known for home remodeling at times working closely with his friend Quinton. As well as building decks & patios.
“Putty” as he was affectionately called by family and “Slim” as he was affectionately called by his friends was always the life of the party at any family function or hanging out with his friends. He was usually the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. He was also known for being a jokester & prankster. He had a way of making you laugh at the simplest things.
“Putty” and his younger sister Kim (“Kimmie”) were just 13 months apart. People often thought they were twins. They were close. He was her protector. They were each other’s best friend as children. You rarely saw one of them without the other. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Chris and his soulmate, Charmaine Burns met in high school. Many years later, they would meet again and begin their journey together.
On October 25th, 2020, Chris passed suddenly due to complications from a stroke and cancer.
He is preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Yvonne Gaskins-Jenkins & babyJeanette Gaskins. He leaves to cherish his memory: his soulmate, Charmaine Burns and their two sons: Rashi& Chris Burns; Two sisters: Jan Jordan (Esquire) and Kim Gaskins; Uncle: Albert “Uncle Buster” Gaskins; Aunt: Jeanette “Aunt Jean“ Harris; Nieces: Erika White, Shanee Allen, Nicole "Nikki" Jenkins-Dancy (Chris) and Kalia Gaskins; Nephews: Richard H.
