Obituary of Ugochi C Oparaocha
Please share a memory of Ugochi to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The world was blessed with Ugochi Crystal Oparaocha on November 19th, 1994, in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, to Judy Oparaocha and Akujobi Oparaocha, the third of four children. She entered the gates of heaven to be with the Lord on October 30th, 2020.
As a child, Ugochi attended and received communion at St. Antoninus Catholic Church. As a young adult, Ugochi attended the St. Peter’s Igbo Anglican Church.
Raised by Judy, Ugochi attended Newark Christian School and Lincoln Avenue School for elementary, then Levitt and Memorial Middle Schools before attending BCIT for high school. Ugochi then earned her Associate degree in Psychology and continued on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Rutgers University.
Inspired by her health journey and recognizing the impact that clinical social workers can have on the patient experience, Ugochi aspired to become a social worker.
Growing tremendously in spirit over the years, she advocated for others, encouraged others, and gave generously and thoughtfully to others right up until the end. Relentlessly authentic and unrelentingly selfless, Ugochi expressed her heart for people in everything she did—speaking and moving with intention.
Ugochi always wanted a family, so much so that she regularly shared the detailed values and principles she wanted to pass on to her children, God-fearing being the number one desired trait. And with all that, she especially enjoyed praise and worship, learning traditional Nigerian dance, writing, baking, interior design, DIY crafting, historical fiction&nonfiction, humor and trivia.
Ugochi is survived by her loving mother, Judith Oparaocha; sister, Chika Oparaocha; sister, Nkechi Oparaocha; sister, Chinwe Oparaocha; father, Akujobi Oparaocha; grandmother, Janet Obirieze; and a many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.Rest in Perfect Peace Ugo, We love you so much.
Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
