Obituary
Obituary of James P Jennings, Sr.
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Paul Jennings Sr. quietly passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 doing what he loved to do, listening to his great grandson Elijah’s football game.
James was born May 30, 1944(as he would say, the original Memorial Day) in Woodbury, NJ to the late Pauline Jennings. He was the baby of the bunch. He is predeceased by his siblings May Garcia, Dorothy Harris, Oscar Jennings and Patsy Calloway.
Jim had many names: Jimmy, Bus driver Jim, Mr. J, Conk, Pop-pop Jennings, and most of all “THE MAYOR”. He always greeted people with a warm friendly smile and long talks about his kids, grandchildren, great grands and most of all the “KANSAS CITY CHIEFS”.
In 2018 James accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and often worshipped at Jacobs Chapel where he loved to hear Rev. Terry Person preach the gospel.
On October 29, 1972 Jim married his elementary sweetheart Joyce Person. Out of this union were four children Eric, Kathi, Jamey and James Jr.(Boodie).
At an early age, James joined the US Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. After he left Vietnam, he later worked for the Cinnaminson School Board as a bus driver and custodian for 40 years. When he retired, he drove limo for Class Act Limo, drove part-time for Joy of Learning and drove Ms. Ellis.
Jim loved to attend any sporting event and encouraged ALL to do their best. He touched many lives young and old. The relationship that all had from bus driver, BBQ’s, the carnival, parades, Whistlers, PT, Wawa, the Breakfast Nook and Penn Queen Diner will be missed.
Jim is survived by his children, Eric(Capucine) Las Vegas, NV Kathi(Thelvin) Cinnaminson, NJ Jamey(Jena) Charlotte, NC and James Jr-Boodie(Tara) Palmyra, NJ.
