On Tuesday November 17. 2020, the gates of heaven opened and took our beloved George Frances Leonard home to be with his Heavenly Father.
George passed away at age of 78 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. George was born on December 4, 1941 to the late Mary Frances Leonard and William Leonard Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland. George was the third out of five children and a brother to Margaret Henson, Oliver Leonard, William Leonard Jr. and Walter Leonard.
George Leonard enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the Eastern Shore and loved playing baseball. George played for a baseball team in Philadelphia called “Yellow Jackets” and also played for a local baseball team in Baltimore called “Baltimore Ramblers.” He proudly won a championship in 1983. George loved to watch his favorite professional baseball team, Baltimore Orioles in his down time. He was also an avid music lover and collector of Motown music. George was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind compassionate spirit. Among that, he was also always “Dressed to Kill”. Later In his adult years, George moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania and had a short career at “Tastykake”.
George spent his final years At Renaissance Nursing Home where he was loved by many.
Left to cherish his memories is sister Margaret Henson and daughters, Lynn Foster, Rhoda Leonard and Markita McMillan; sons Dwayne Leonard and Donny Leonard; niece and nephews Robin Penn, Andre McCready and Kevin Leonard; and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends. George was preceded in death by his son Kevin Leonard and daughter Senora Snowden, parents and brothers Oliver Leonard, William Leonard Jr. and Walter Leonard.
