Obituary of Scott Andrew Parks
Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott Andrew Parks was born and raised in Camden, NJ on February 6, 1963 to Samuel “Sonny” Parks Jr. and Shirley Parks. He was a joyful and playful child who enjoyed being with his family. Scott was affectionately known as “Scottie”. He has an infectious smile that could light up your day. He was educated in the Camden Public School system.
Scottie lived life with a sense of rugged independence. Scottie did not want anyone to tell him what to do. Scottie was a strong-willed, sharp-witted, often short-tempered survivor and everyone admired that about him. In 1985, Scottie celebrated the birth of his first daughter, Janaa Minzy. In 1992, Scottie welcomed his second daughter, Lena Phillips. He was a proud father who would swoon over his girls.
Scottie would describe himself as ‘a Camden boy through and through’. He loved his family dearly even when they didn’t see eye to eye. He loved to help everyone whenever he could. He would literally give you the shirt off his back or the hat off his head. He spent the final years of his life in Atlantic City, NJ. Scott left his earthly abode on December 4, 2020.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley, his father Samuel and his younger sister, Bernadette. Scott leaves to mourn his memory two daughters, Janaa Minzy and Lena Phillips; two granddaughters, Day’yona and MA’Laysia; sisters, Deborah Williams, Sonya Torrance, Damia ‘Mimi’ Brooks, Choya ‘Chic’ Parks, Anniya Gibson; brothers, Kevin Parks, Brian Cole, Anthony Cole, Airrion Parks, D’amante Parks and others. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends mourn his loss.
