HOME GOING CELEBRATION OF LIFE
FOR A QUEEN THAT EARNED HER CROWN
“OLA MAE MILLEDGE”
Sunrise September 19, 1952 - Sunset December 7th, 2020
Ola Mae Milledge better known as “Glo” went home to be with the Lord peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 7th, 2020. Ola Mae Milledge was born September 19th, 1952 in Waynesboro, Georgia to the late Susie Mae (nee Jones) and the late John Milledge, Sr. Ola Mae was given the name Gloria at birth because when her father laid eyes on her she became affectionately known as his morning Glory until her grandmother Rosie (whom she called Mama) changed her name to Ola Mae, however, the nickname “Glo” always remained. Glo attended the Bridgeton school system and was employed with the Vineland Developmental System as a Residential Live-In Specialist (“RLS”) for over 39 years up until her retirement.
Glo even became an entrepreneur, owning her own restaurant, Glo’s Homestyle Country Cooking, located in Vineland, N.J. Glo was an incredible cook, she could master making any dish, and so many people looked forward to enjoying her delicious food. Glo was like a diamond, she came into many lives for a reason and she had the ability to change lives and hearts forever. Glo’s heart was huge, she was kind and friendly, she made other people feel comfortable and she would open her door to anyone in need. Glo would feed the community if need be. Glo was the Matriarch of the Milledge Family, the glue that held everyone together. Glo was a strong woman that loved genuinely and deeply and to her, family and togetherness was her happiness.
Glo became a member of Glory Tabernacle under the leadership of Bishop David Hadley until her health began to fail. Accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior was her main priority, and she had the opportunity to do just that. In her spare time, Glo loved reading her Bible and listening to gospel music up until her death. She read Psalms 23, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”, often. Her hobbies included cooking and spending time with her family and friends. In particular, she adored spending time with her only daughter, Shakera, whom she referred to as “Key”. She enjoyed planning family reunions, she was a people person and believed very strongly that a family that prays together, stays together. Glo was a true Queen that has earned her Crown.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children, one daughter: Shakera “Key” Milledge of Vineland, New Jersey; and two sons: Leighton Milledge, Sr. and Quaysaun Edward Jones, both of Bridgeton, New Jersey. Eight grandchildren: Leighton Milledge, Jr., Demartuay Milledge, Twonya Williams, Lazeria Milledge, Zyron Dairsow, Skylar Jones, Marquise Milledge, and Nyheim Brown. Two great grandchildren: Mizzouri Milledge and Lyric Talley. Five sisters: Diane Milledge and Sylvia Milledge of Blackwood, New Jersey; Elaine Gregory Williams, Jeanette Milledge and Cynthia Milledge of Bridgeton, New Jersey. Two brothers: John Milledge, Jr. of Millville New Jersey and Darryl Milledge of Bridgeton, New Jersey. One aunt: Mattie Robinson of Bronx, New York. Two uncles: Willie Jones, Jr. of Warrenton, North Carolina and Alonzo Jones of Boston, Massachusetts. A very close friend/sister for over 50 years: Juanita (Burch) Wadley, a special cousin: Rose “Bay Bay” Shipp, two very close friends: Roxanne Simmons and Ebony Griffin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ola Mae (Glo) was predeceased by her parents: Susie Mae and John Milledge, Sr., a brother: Parvis and a sister: Yvonne Jones, grandparents: Rosie Reese and Willie Jones, two nephews: John Milledge and Tyron Milledge, a niece: Infinity “Mommypooh” Milledge, two aunts: Celia Mae Parrish and Rosie Mae Collins, and two uncles: Walter Reese, Jr., and John Robinson.
Glo will truly be missed by all. Her loving smile and
kind heart will forever be embedded in our hearts.
