Dr. Joyce E Jones was born on April 8, 1950 to the late James and Florence Johnson in Camden, NJ., and departed this life of labor to reward on December 15,2020.
Dr. Jones was educated in the Camden public school system where she graduated for Camden High School.In 1975 she married the late Elder Herbert E. Jones and were blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Together they also cared for 3 foster children.She founded the Open Door Mission church in the late 1980s. Where she served as Pastor and Overseer for over 20 years. During this time she served the community creating the “FEED MY SHEEP” food program and “THE GOOD NEWS PRISON MINISTRY".
Dr Jones received her doctrine at Jameson School of Ministry of Theology. She later served as a Professor at Jameson School of Ministry for over 15 years. She has been preaching for 58 years.She spent her latter years, volunteering her time teaching and preaching the Word of God at different churches. She spent her final years as a member at Mt Sinai Holiness Church of Camden, NJ. serving under Pastor Samuel Jones. Where she continued to teach Bible Study Sunday School. Dr. Jones had a passion for the Lord and the Word of God. She worked proudly and diligently as the “Sin Fighter" until the Lord gently whispered “Well Done".
When she wasn’t talking about the goodness of the Lord or teaching his Word, you could find her loving on her children and grandchildren.
Dr. Jones was caring , selfless and always available to lend a helping hand. She was an extremely knowledgeable and devoted person. She was easily loved by family, friends saints and students. She was truly “ The Great and Amazing Dr. Jones", loving called by her daughter.
She leaves to celebrate her life 2 daughters Christina “Shay" Jones, Casey “Katey" Jones , her 1 and ONLY son Christopher “Chris" Jones; 5 grandchildren, Keyonte, Kamryn, Zyaire, Jaliah and Christian Jones; 3 sisters, Mother Lillie Tyler, Thelma Johnson and Lisa Johnson; 1 brother in law, Nelson Tyler: 1 sister in law LaRue Worthy-Johnson; a host of Faison-Jones in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, God-children and friends
