Obituary
On Friday, December 18, 2020, Hartley Brown Jr.,
loving husband and father of eight children and a stepson, passed away at age 64. Hartley was born on June 1, 1956 in Bridgeton, NJ to Hartley Sr. and Ernestine (Russell) Brown. He was a dedicated, hardworking employee of Progresso (Soup) Quality Foods Co. for 23 years. On May 25, 1991, he married Charmaine Carter Brown and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Krystal and Shataya. He leaves
behind his oldest child Lamonte Hall (Shemekia Green), beloved daughter Montoya Key Parker (Travis Parker), stepson Willie “Dwayne” Simmons (Amber Simmons),
Quiana Brown, Krystal Brown, Romaine Cuff, Shataya Brown (David Washington), Brionne Cuff (Cierra Cuff), Brittany Cuff and several precious grandchildren.
Hartley was extremely passionate about his car.
Everyone knows he was a Mercedes Benz man. He also loved to eat. Reds was always somewhere licking his fingers and rubbing his belly after a good meal. He loved watching football and laying in bed shaking his leg. His most blissful moments were spent on his fathers couch watching San Francisco 49ers football. Hartley loved life and he always did it his way! Which often meant spending nights "down the way” at the black jack table in Atlantic City. He was known for his gift of gab and sense of humor, his charming ways and smooth suits, but most importantly his kind and compassionate spirit for family.
Reds was preceded in death by his loving father, Hartley Sr., and his dearest baby sister Janice. He is survived by his lovely wife Charmaine and children. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings Sherwood, Allen, Garnet, Lisa, in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. At this time our family request in celebration of our father’s transition is that you appreciate the people who love you. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from our Daddy who always said, “They gone miss me when I’m gone”.
