Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger Lawrence Williams, Sr. was born on April 3, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pa, to the late Edward Morgan Williams Sr. and Carrie Bell Williams.
He was preceded in death by his late wife Elisse V. Williams of 44 years.
Roger was raised in Sanford, Florida. He graduated from Crooms High School in 1968. He later attended Florida A&M University and proudly served in the United States Army.
He married his beloved wife Elisse V. Williams on August 15, 1970 and from this union were born four children whom he loved and reared in a God-fearing home.
Roger accepted the Lord as his personal savior and served under the ministries of Elder Felder Moragne. He later joined Holy Temple Church of God in Christ where he faithfully served under the leadership of Bishop O. T. Jones Jr. In 2002 he made Bethany Baptist Church his final home and committed himself to the Men’s Ministry, impacting over 100 men’s lives at Saturday night prayer.
Roger was a kind and humble person. He would always greet you with that beautiful smile and conversations full of laughter. Most of all he was intentional about prayer and putting you on his prayer list. He would always give an encouraging word with a supporting scripture. His personal testimony would often be inserted in conversation giving God all the glory for what he has done.
He shared his love for fashion through his personal style. In his early years he would design and create his own line of men’s wear. He also had the opportunity to design for basketball player Darryl Dawkins. Roger continued his love for art as Manager for the Philadelphia Art Glass Company. He often enjoyed spending time with family and friends, drinking a good cup of coffee, praying for others, and practicing on his guitar.
Roger transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on January 13, 2021. He leaves behind to continue his legacy four devoted children Kia (Reverend Victor Eagleton) , Roger (Arnetta Williams), April, and Justin (Crystal Williams); one son-in-law Victor Eagleton; one special son Dallas Grundy (Latifah Grundy), three brothers, Pablo Williams (Voncile Williams); Steven Williams (Jenny Williams) and Edward Williams Jr. ; two sisters, Veronica Berry (Moses Berry) and Terry Williams; three grandchildren, Christopher, Dajoure, and Amari Williams, and a host of nieces , nephew, relatives and friends.
