Please share a memory of Sylvia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sylvia Diane Ali was born on January 26, 1957 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Roland (Colleen) Evans in Lawnside, New Jersey. Sylvia was the tenth of thirteen children. She attended Lawnside Public School and Haddon Heights High School District. She continued her education by studying Criminal Justice at Camden County College in Blackwood, New Jersey. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour Jesus Christ and was baptized at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Lawnside, New Jersey. Sylvia birthed two children, her son Rondell Braxton Sr. “Dell” and daughter Rhonda Evans “Bell”. She was a devoted and loving mother who dedicated her life to raising her children. She always referred to them as “the baddest and cutest kids in Lawnside”. Later in life, she reunited with her childhood friend, Noor Ali and they took hands of marriage on April 28, 2001. Sylvia began working as a teacher’s aide for the Camden City School District at Morgan Village and East Camden Middle School in the late 1970’s. She then worked as a medical supply coordinator for 26 years at Kresson View Center formerly known as the Care Inn in Voorhees, New Jersey. She was a faithful employee who worked until her battle of cancer began in 2016. Sylvia was a beautiful person who had a heart of gold filled with love and joy. She enjoyed having family gatherings and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She was so excited to welcome her seventh great- grandchild and will now watch over him/her from heaven above. She loved going to the hair salon, gardening in her yard, and ordering from QVC. In her spare time, she could be caught in the kitchen baking her signature sour cream cake for her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her strength and loyalty. She fought a good fight and on Friday, January 15th God welcomed her home.
