THE LIFE & TIMES OF OUR BELOVED
Ronald J. Jenkins
Our beloved was born on Saturday, February 21, 1953 to the late Jesse and Louise Jenkins. He went peacefully into the arms of the Lord early on Wednesday morning, January 20, 2021.
Raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ronald was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and upon graduation; he served in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he began working at Conshohocken Steel Mill. Ronnie, Jenks, Jenk-I-Boo and SaxMo as he was affectionately called, discovered a love for music and entertainment and at a young age and he learned to play both the flute and the saxophone. He often took his talents on the road and played with many bands including “Cosmic Movement”; “Spirit”; “The 215-Band”; “Intersection”; “Strength” and The Multicultural Ensemble.
In 2007, Ronald married his best friend, confidant and partner for life – Kim Lynch and they shared many years together. They enjoyed traveling and he enjoyed her cooking and often said that she cooked all of his meals with “LOVE” Jenks was a charismatic and outgoing man who left a lasting impression on everyone that he
encountered. His smile would light a room and his laugh was infectious – He was loved by all. We all have trials and tribulations in life and Ronald was no exception but instead of succumbing to the woes in life, he came through them like a warrior. He accepted Christ into his life and he loved the word of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a humble member and served on the music ministry.
Later in life, Jenks relocated to Peekskill, NY where he enjoyed a career at the VA Hospital. Not only did he love his job; He loved the family-oriented community and the support that he received. He joined the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and played the Saxophone at every Sunday Service as long as his health allowed. He enjoyed the view from the mountains and the brisk air during the winter months. He was a pillar of his community and all of the neighbors enjoyed his generosity, his supportive nature, his spirit and his pleasant personality. If SaxMo played a tune on his Sax or his flute, you were truly special to him. Ronald prided himself on his relationship with his children and he was a devoted father. He spoke highly of his children’s accomplishments – The Author, the Artist, the Graduates and the Entrepreneurs - but more important, he was a dedicated Grandfather.
