Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On January 26th, 2021, Nancy Lee Church, passed away peacefully after battling for years with multiple health issues. She was 64 years old.
Born February 29th, 1956, to Mary W. Mitchell-Cropper and Dan Mitchell in Salisbury, Maryland at Peninsula Regional Hospital, Nancy was the oldest daughter of Mary’s four children. At an early age, she showed a natural talent for singing and although she never took a single lesson, she could play the piano by ear. She eventually passed down her love for music to her children and grandchildren.
Nancy attended Bennett Senior High School where she would meet the father of her sons, Pennell Eugene Church. Shortly thereafter, she would work various jobs including a stint as a nurse’s aide as well as a role as a l ab assistant which she loved. Nancy took pride in her work and loved to help people. Her empathetic nature and warm smile was a magnet to any and everyone who crossed her path. For health reasons, she eventually l eft the workforce and became a full-time homemaker. She would put that same energy and passion into raising a family.
As a Godly woman, Nancy was committed to her faith and constantly prayed for others. She loved to share God’s word and read her bible daily. In spite of her declining health, she would always say, “Baby, just leave it in God’s hands and
it’ll be alright.”
Nancy is survived by her two sons, Cornelius Eugene Church and Michael Lee Church. Eight grandchildren Natasha, Kassandra, Kameelah, Yameira, Zaire, Jibril, Kamaal, and Aminah. Four great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Noah, Stella, and Jerimiah. She is also survived by her three younger sisters Priscilla, Danette, Grace and a host of relatives and friends.
