Paul Searles who is affectionately known as “Pop-pop” by his grandchildren went home to be with the lord on February 4, 2021.
He was born on August 6, 1946 along with his twin sister Pauline (deceased) to the late Fred and Lizan Mackie Searles in McCormick, SC. He moved to New Jersey at an early age and was educated in the Camden Public School System. Paul was extremely hard working and highly skilled in various industries. He was blessed with a long career and retired from multiple companies. He served as a supervisor for 27 years at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ. Additionally, he retired from Product Research Company in Gloucester City, NJ.
Paul was a man of great talents and had many hobbies. He enjoyed deep sea fishing. He had a passionate for collecting antique cars and was an amazing cook; everyone looked forward to his sweet potato pies during Thanksgiving. He enjoyed listening to the “oldies” and had a mean two-step. Paul loved to entertain and
socialize with family and friends. He was very easy going and had a calming spirit. You could talk to him about anything which led to great life advice. He always knew the perfect scripture to help anyone get through trying times. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren accomplishments.
In 1991, Paul married the love of his life Helen Patricia Searles. He adored her, and their two hearts became one. Their love will last for eternity. In 1994, Paul gave is life to Christ and was later
baptized. He was a faithful member of Shalom Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Paul studied Christ under the
leadership of the late Reverend James E. Fitten and he was a
God-Fearing man.
Paul had a special relationship and bond with his twin sister Pauline. Twins are born to walk side by side and on a peaceful night in January shortly before his passing, Paul softly said, “I will be meeting my sister at the Pearly Gates”. Together they came, and together they reunite.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Fred and Lizan Searles, his twin sister Pauline and her husband Clarence Harvey; his brothers John, Samuel, and Michael; and his nephew Dwayne Harvey.
