Obituary of Victoria Strother
Please share a memory of Victoria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A sweet, sweet spirit has been “Taken to the King”. Victoria Rodgers Strother’s earthly journey ended on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1940 in Smuteye, Alabama to her mother Mollie Rodgers. Victoria was raised in Eufaula, Alabama and attended school there. It was in Alabama that she met the love of her life, a soldier, Joseph Strother. They were married and raised six children. She relocated with Joseph to New Jersey and settled in Willingboro.
Victoria was a dedicated servant of The Lord, and would often say, “Wherever you go put God First.” As a woman of faith, she joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, New Jersey, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Richard W. Jones. Her loving spirit and desire to help others gave rise to her joining the Nurses’ Unit of the church, where she served tirelessly and faithfully. To continue her faithful service to the Lord, Victoria later joined Agape’ Christian Fellowship Church in Burlington, under the pastorate of Rev. Burt Merriman.
Victoria was a loving wife to her husband, a devoted, yet stern mother to her children, and a dedicated life-long friend to many. A vacuum now exists in the heart of her husband and their children, Antoinette Walker (William), Rick Rodgers (Tanja), Greg Strother (Barbara) and Victoria ‘Valdaye’ Berry, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. In 2020, she was blessed to share her surprise 80th birthday with her family and friends. Their love and memories of Victoria will be a guide and a shining example to be emulated and carried in their hearts. Victoria is now joined in Glory, with her daughter, Lisa and her son, Joseph III (Joey).
