Lashawn Lynn Davis-Freeman September 20, 1968 - February 16, 2021 On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, Lashawn Lynn Davis-Freeman passed away at age 52. On September 20, 1968, Lashawn Lynn Davis-Freeman a gift from God was born to Janice C. Johnson and Clarence R. Davis in Philadelphia, PA. Lashawn was a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister. In 1984 Lashawn met her best friend Marvin Newsome better known as “Ray”. Ray and Lashawn raised two children together, Tyliera and Terrin Newsome. Lashawn always said Ray was her very best friend and that he was for over 36 years. During Lashawn’s childhood she had a bright bubbly smile and was affectionately called “Sunshine”. As an adult, Lashawn carried that same character and was known as “Sunni”. As a young girl Lashawn was caring and always wanting to help in any way she could, so it was no surprise that she enjoyed being a girlscout in Troop 257. Lashawn had many hobbies that she enjoyed doing such as reading books, listening to music and dancing. Lashawn also had a strong passion for cooking and could prepare anything. Lashawn was well known for her creativity, intellect and charisma. Although “Sunni” faced many challenges and adversities, she knew the Lord Jesus as her Savior. Lashawn was educated in the New Jersey School system. Lashawn was passionate about learning and accomplished anything that she put her mind to. Lashawn completed one degree in Human Services and one in Applied Science in Addictions Counseling. Lashawn loved to help people and even after her passing, Lashawn was able to do a selfless act by donating two of her organs. Lashawn was a loving and ambitious soul radiating with many possibilities of soaring to reach her goals and will sadly be missed by those that knew and loved her. Lashawn was preceded in death by her lovingly surrogated father Ernest N. Johnson, Sr., She is survived by her two children Tyliera and Terrin Newsome, her mother Janice C. Johnson, her father Clarence Davis (Tonya Davis), her brother Ernest Johnson, Jr., husband Ramsey Freeman, her brother Amin Davis, her sisters Aaisha Davis, Nicki Davis and Sharron Gaymon, loving best friend Marvin Newsome, Sr., god-daughter Tashira Johnson and a special cousin Harvey Tinsley, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
