Please share a memory of Maxine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maxine Woods (Ms. Maxine) was born on April 6, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Viola Thomas and Edward Cooper. She went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021.
Maxine was educated in the public schools in New York. As a child, Maxine was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. In her young adult life, Maxine worked at a dry cleaners in New York. Maxine will spend her summers in Newtonville, NJ where she spent time with her mother Viola. Later, she relocated permanently to New Jersey to look after her mother after the passing of her step-father, Fletcher Taylor. This is also where she met her long-term companion Jerome (Sack) Clements. Maxine’s love for the Lord continued throughout her adult life. Maxine attended Mt Zion Baptist Church, Weymouth, NJ. This was a ritual she looked forward to weekly, dressing up and wearing her fancy hats. Maxine enjoyed the fellowship and worship experience.
Maxine enjoyed reading books, completing crossword puzzles, and eating her sweets. She was a kindhearted person who always had a smile on her face and showed genuine love towards anyone in her presence.
Maxine was predeceased by her parents Viola Taylor and Edward Cooper; Step-father Fletcher Taylor; Brother Bruce Noble; Long-term companion Jerome (Sack) Clements; Brother-in-laws Matthew Clements and David (Bubble) Clements; Step-son Eric Buster Clements.
Left to cherish her memory is Sister-in-law Shirley Noble of Browns Mills, NJ; nephew Kevin (Cynthia) Noble of Florence, NJ; Niece Falon Noble of Brooklyn, NY; Step-sons Michael (Barbara) Cook and Jerome (Christine) Clements of Vineland, NJ; Sister-in-law/caretaker Johnnie Mae Clements of Newtonville, NJ; Brother-in-law Peter (Barbara) Clements of Newtonville, NJ; Sister-in-law Susie Clements of Cordele, GA; Brother-in-law Tyrone (Barbara) Clements of Alexander, LA; Sister-in-Law Bernice Lipford of Chandler, AZ; and a host of step-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, friends, and church family.
