Obituary of Lewis E Edwards

Lewis E. Edwards transitioned on March 15, 2021 at the age of 65. Born November 29, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Irvin and Pearl Edwards.
In the 1960’s the Edwards family moved from Philadelphia, Pa., to Camden, New Jersey, where Lewis was educated through the Camden City School System and became a proud graduate of Camden High School.
Lewis began his career with the Camden City Fire Department, in 1994, where he worked in the Truck and Tillerman under Ladder Company 2. Lewis was promoted as a Fire Prevention Specialist in 1998 and assigned to the Camden City Fire Marshal’s Office, where he served for twenty-two and a half years. In December 2020, Lewis retired his Fire Marshal’s position to begin his new chapter in life.
Lewis Edwards became a compassionate Christian and was a proud member of the Camden Bible Tabernacle, where he was instilled as a Deacon on September 29, 2019. He emulated his love of Jesus through his dedication of service to his church, which included service as a van driver, missionary ministry and an armor bearer for Pastor Wiggins. With the love of his church in his heart, Lewis enjoyed working in the kitchen, serving, setting up and assisting in the coordination of church events.
Along with serving the Lord, he took great pride in preserving the in-situation of his family, which he took great pride in. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, cars (BMW’s), jazz and old school music; in particular, Marvin Gaye. With his beautiful eyes, genuine smile and big heart, Lewis was al-ways available and on time to assist anyone in need.
He is predeceased by his parents, Pearl and Irvin Edwards, son, Airrain Edwards and sister-in-law Shelly Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, Seven children: Lewis Ed-wards, Jr (Yemaya)., Tangela N. Edwards, Deja U. Edwards, Lamont A. Edwards (Fiance’ Keiyonia Hunley), Lameka S. Edwards, Keenan Hill and Anijah Turlington, affectionately known as his daughter.
Four Brothers: Ronald Williams, Irvin (Patsy) Edwards Jr., William Ed-wards, and Michael Edwards. Two sisters: Rosetta (Robert) Conway and Tamira Edwards.
Three Aunts: Joann Watterson, Sarah Shephard and Mary Jesse. Thirty-four (34) Grandchildren and Four (4) Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
