Obituary of Charles H. Valentine

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles Herman Valentine, 89, of Camden, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2021. Charles was born December 8, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, VA, to the late Willard and Loisa Price Valentine. He attended public school in Danville VA. Charles married Ineze Adkins and they were blessed with 13 children. Charles and Ineze moved to New Jersey in 1957 with the hope of having greater opportunities to provide for their growing family. Charles was usually self employed because he wanted to work on his own terms. Charles had extensive experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, Tractor Trailer Operator and Entrepreneur. He also had a talent for repairing cars and trucks. Those skills were passed on to his sons. His granddaughter Gwendolyn and grandsons Shaun and Brandon have also taken up the trades. He started a legacy. Charles was adored by everyone. He loved his family and cherished the time they spent together. He especially enjoyed telling stories about some of his many adventures including his childhood years growing up in the South. He was very open and honest when telling his stories. He shared the good, the bad and the ugly. He not only wanted us to learn from his accomplishments, he wanted us to learn from his mistakes. He left us with the greatest gift of all, a lifetime of memories! There’s not a movie or book as exciting or interesting as his life. Many of his stories not only made us laugh, they made him laugh while telling them. Some of his stories had us holding our breath and hanging on his every word in anticipation of how it would end. Charles loved to cook. He could “whip up a good meal!” He was a free spirit, fun loving and adventurous young man. In his latter years he was a humble man who loved the Lord and was grateful to God, especially for his family. He was very happy, content and always said that he was living like a king. It had nothing to do with material things, but everything to do with the peace that surpasses all understanding that he found in Jesus Christ when he became saved. His favorite scripture was from Psalms 27 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Loisa Price Valentine, brother Jesse Keyes, and daughter Phyllis Valentine. His memory will be cherished forever by his former wife Ineze Valentine-Parchment (William); Daughters - Faye Koonce, Gaynelle Johnson (Al), Janice Person (Wayne), & Angie Maxwell; Sons - Edward Martin (Patricia), Jerry Valentine (Pauline), Charles Valentine, Jr. (Wanda), George Valentine (Faith), Jeffrey Valentine, Sr., Allen Valentine, Sr. (Angel), Anthony Valentine, Sr. (Yolanda), Adrian Valentine, Sr. (Debbie), & Alfred Valentine; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces Connie Keyes(Douglas), Shirley Henley, Carolyn Myers, The Adkins, Carter, Price, Dublin, Bailey, Hemingway and Saunders Families, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
