Obituary of Robert C McKay
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at the age of 74, Robert Cornell McKay gained his wings and went on to be with the Lord. Robert was born on October 29, 1947, in Williamson, West Virginia and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania along with his sisters Shirley, Zelda ‘Yvonne’, Barbara, and brother Thomas. Robert was a man of many academic accomplishments and accolades. After High School, Robert continued his educational achievements at Temple University and received his BS in Engineering. Robert then continued his education at Philadelphia University by receiving his MBA in Business. As a devout Christian Robert made it a mission to learn more about the words of God and Christianity, and this April received his Master’s in Divinity, and most recently submitted his application for the Doctoral program in Divinity.
Robert started his career in engineering at Septa in Philadelphia, PA where he worked for over two decades. Thereafter, Robert worked at Armand Corporation, Cherry Hill, NJ where he continued his passion for engineering, and continued to gain much knowledge and success including helping to build the new West Philadelphia High School. After a brief retirement, Robert went on to start his own engineering company RMCK LLC., in which he was involved in many projects throughout the tristate area.
In his spare time Robert enjoyed working out and was always excited to walk miles on his NordicTrack, watching action and adventure movies, trying new restaurants; and most of all spending time with his family and friends creating new memories with love and laughter.
Robert was a member of Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro, NJ where Robert was actively involved in many areas of the church ranging from the Prison Ministry where he would minister and guide inmates through multiple prisons. Additionally, he was involved in the Children’s Ministry. Every morning Robert would participate in morning prayer with the church, and would never miss a service at Church. Involving Christ in every aspect of his life and the lives of others was his true passion.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his Daughter, Ashley McKay, Step-Son, Edward Mack, two sisters Zelda ‘Yvonne’ McKay and Barbara McKay, a host of nieces and nephews and many family and friends. He is predeceased by his Brother, Thomas McKay; Mother, Zelda McKay; Father, Robert L. McKay; and sister Shirley McKay.
