Obituary of Betty R Wilcox
Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Rio Taylor-Wilcox affectionately known as “Miss Betty” was born on Wednesday November 13, 1940 to the late Theodore Greene and Doris Eva Jones. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, May 27th, 2021 at the age of 80.
Betty grew up in Camden, NJ and attended Whittier Elementary School, Hatch Middle School and graduated from Camden High School. She was employed by Curtis Young Company as a factory worker but she found her passion at being employed as a professional caregiver. Betty married Harold Wilcox and later relocated to Atlanta Georgia.
Betty loved the Lord. She enjoyed fellowshipping with her christian friends at First Baptist Church in Riverside NJ. Betty's self-taught hobby was sewing, where she would make beautiful handkerchiefs and scarves for members of the church and community. When Betty wasn’t talking and laughing with her family, she enjoyed shopping, road trips and playing cards. Betty would take trips to the nearest casinos and flea markets or host a card game with family, friends, and food! Family functions and gatherings will never be the same. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren, where she was a mentor, supporter, and a partner in whatever issue they faced. Betty was best-known for her candor. She would always speak her mind, say how she felt, and keep it real. Above all, Betty knew the word of God- constantly praying for, and with, her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Greene and Doris Jones, her children Denise and John Taylor, grandson John B Taylor, brothers Jerry Taylor and Carl Rafic Taylor-Bey, sisters Michele Bagby and Cheryl Singleton. Left with many precious memories are: husband, Harold Wilcox, son Jeffery Morris, grandchildren Katrina Taylor, Guy (Sydell) Taylor, Danielle Taylor, Emerson McDonald, Shakira (Marcus) Gerald, Tyrese Poole and Trey Morris, 7 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters Darlene Davis and Marelena Turner, special friend Sharon Scruggs, God-daughter Rochelle Akindipe and many other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
