Marvin Roy Dewberry was born May 6th, 1935 to the Late William D. Dewberry, Sr and Fannie P. Howard. He attended elementary and high school in Millville NJ. While in high school he played football and ran track. He set several school records in track and was inducted into the Millville Hall of Fame in 2003 as part of the 1953 Football Team.
After high school he went into the United States Air Force for 4 years. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Japan where he met his late wife Kazuko Yanagita. After leaving the Air Force he spent the next 43 years of his life working on Naval Combat systems as a technical writer. He lived in Willingboro NJ from the time he left the Air Force until the time of his passing.
Marvin wanted his children to succeed in life and never give up. He once said “quitting is an easy habit to start but a hard one to quit”. He was quiet and reserved and lead by example for his kids. Always completing the task he started and living up to his responsibilities. The commitment to his sons led him to coach PAL football for more than 10 years.
Marvin departed this life on June 2nd, 2021 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees NJ. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kazuko, his brothers, William D. Dewberry, Henry Dewberry, Maylon Dewberry, Richard Dewberry, Sr. and four sisters, Bernice Dewberry, Evangeline Johnson, Audrey Clark and Estelle Gibbon.
