Dr. Von A. Gordon posted a condolence
Thursday, June 17, 2021
Mom, I never, ever thought I’d be writing this so soon. I expected to spend many, many more years with you. I can’t imagine you not here. I honored you in life and I often told you “I love you” just because I felt the love for you in my heart. I’m so happy that I did whatever you asked if it made you smile. Therefore, I have no regrets regarding how I honored you in life. You were such an amazing woman, mom, grandmother, mentor, teacher, author, entrepreneur, management executive, wife, & dog grandmother. I’ve always said that you are the mother everyone wished they had. I’m proud to have known you and I am proud to have been your daughter. I will always love you and I will always miss you.
Your daughter, Von Alise Gordon

Mama,
I never thought this day would come or at least not so soon. This feels surreal and despite praying this is a dream, I know it’s not. I love you. I adore you. I will forever miss you. I will forever be your baby and you will forever be mine.
Gay.

I want to send my condolences to your family from the children of your dear niece, Daveen Williams, (Atosha, Brady Jr., and Kissa) I know that our mother loved you and Uncle Kenny senior dearly. I remember how excited and proud our mother was to sell and wear your fashion line, Elegante. I remember our beloved mother, Daveen, making trips to New Jersey for award banquets and coming back with gifts, pictures, and stores of her experiences with you and Uncle Kenny. Thank you for being a loving and kind aunt and uncle to our mother. The love you shared and showed to your niece Daveen, was expressed to her children. Thank you for your love Aunt Shirley aka Rev. Dr. Shirley Gordon. Atosha, Brady Jr., and I (Kissa) are sending prayers, love, hugs, and kisses to our family in New Jersey while we celebrate your life. May we all be comforted by the warm embrace for the Holy Spirit.
Sincerely,
Kissa Mba Nzue ( Williams)

I never had the privilege of meeting Dr. Shirley Gordon other than by telephone when she and my wife, the Late Dr. Harriett J Terry-Clark would talk. Even through the phone I found her to be a woman of God. I watched over the years how her and my wife would encourage one another through phone calls, cards, and letters. When my wife transitioned last year, it was Dr. Gordon that called me and asked if there were anything she could do and told me if COVID-19 would not have been so severe as it was she would have been here to help celebrate the life and legacy of my wife. To her husband and the entire family continue to look to Jesus for he is well able to carry you through. For certainly one day, if we too continue to fight the good fight of faith we will see our loved ones again. Praying for you all during this difficult time.

I remember in the 70’s seeing Dr. Shirley Gordon coming down the dusty road of Almyra, Arkansas, in a limousine to introduce a different lifestyle. She had a big smile on her face, her dress was impeccable, she was cheerful and informative. She was concerned about our success and engaged herself in the development of it. She had a way of pulling out potential in others and bringing the best in others. When my sister received a diagnosis, Dr. Gordon researched different ways to help my sister and sent the information to me and to another sister. Years later, my sister went home to be with The Lord, and Dr. Gordon surprised the family by showing up at “The Wake” and “The Home Going Service”. Incredible woman of God, she will truly be missed on earth. RIL

My Dearest Mother-in-Love, my life is forever changed because of the blessing of you and Sir. Freely sharing your faith, kindness, wisdom, love, laughter, and thirst for life (the finer things), you walked in His will blessing all who had an opportunity to be in your presence. Courageous, unashamed and bold in faith, gentle, and yet, firm and strong, you exemplified many of the characteristics of Christ that I truly admire and seek.
As you have earned your crown, the doors of Heaven are open and celebrating your arrival. While Heaven is already decorated, I have no doubt you’ll be adding a pop of color and bit more bling somewhere.
Thank you for your love and example. Today, and always, I will celebrate your life in the way you lived yours...to the fullest!
I will miss you dearly.
With love, admiration, and respect,
Leslie
