Obituary
Obituary of Barry J Allen
Please share a memory of Barry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barry Jerome Allen was born to the late Johnny and Mary-Johnson Allen on August 10, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA. Barry was the third of their 4 children, Johnnie Mae, Angela and Luonga.
Barry married his soulmate, Evelyn Robinson on June 28, 1980. From the beginning it was clear to Evelyn and Barry that they were meant for each other. Their 41 years of marriage was filled with happiness, family and most importantly love. Together they weathered challenging times and emerged even stronger and more committed to each other. Barry and Evelyn truly lived their vows and lived these words “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.”
It is impossible to summarize all that Barry was and how much he meant to so many people. He was just so special. Family was very important to Barry and he was a dedicated husband and father. His ability to connect with anyone and really “hear” what they were saying and feeling was a gift and is a testament to the man that Barry was. Barry touched so many people of all ages and circumstances and those who met him were lucky to have him as a part of their lives. We will always picture Barry with his beautiful smile and hear his kind, tender and compassionate words.
Throughout Barry’s journey he was a savvy entrepreneur and started and ran several businesses. He was also a talented artist and one of his most beautiful creations was a drawing of Evelyn. Over the years Barry also treated many of us to delicious meals as he was a skilled culinary artist as well. May he continue to dance and sing to the music of his favorite artists, which included the O’ Jays, Whispers, Earth Wind and Fire.
Barry returned to His Father’s house on July 4th, 2021 with his wife Evelyn by his side. Barry’s spirit will be carried on by his wife, Evelyn, daughter, Bernadette, sisters Johnnie Mae and Luonga, brother-in-law Hillary and his wife Allison, sister-in-law Willie Mae and a host nieces, nephews and beloved grandchildren. Barry was preceded in death by his in-laws, Hillary and Lola Robinson, son, Glenn and sister Angela.
He was missed the second he left us.
