James Darrell Colbert IV was born on August 17, 1976, to Gloria Nelson and James Colbert III in Camden, New Jersey. In his early years, Darrell attended the Camden City School District where he enjoyed playing football for Camden High School. He worked a host of jobs including KFC, Burger King, and most recently Instacart and his favorite DoorDash.
Darrell was also known as Big Red and Yella Dawg. Darrell loved to rap and create mixtapes which became his number one hobby. He would love to come home and play his latest mixtape just to hear us tell him how good he sounded. Darrell demanded respect and always made everyone smile. He had a great love for family. He was a devoted son, brother, father, fiancé’, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandson (VinCere’).
There’s no doubt that music was his greatest love, but nothing could ever top the love he had for his fiancé Tamara Stratton (Tammie), who stuck by his side through thick and thin. His Queen and we won’t ever forget it.
