Obituary of Carl K Proctor
Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl Kenneth Proctor was born to Thomas Michael and Abrina Denise Proctor on December 8, 1972 in Washington, DC. Carl was called to his eternal resting place on August 13, 2021.
Carl resided in Pennsauken and Camden, NJ for most of his life. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, NJ.
Carl met Shakena Snipes, who later became his wife, Shakena Proctor and married on July 18, 1997. They started a family together on June 29, 1994 with their first born, Nikera Marie Proctor and their second born son, Quan Lamont Proctor on October 23, 1998.
Carl’s career interests varied from working with Party Rental Companies, which included putting up tents, tables, equipment, etc; for major parties and events. Carl then developed a love for driving and learning about box trucks. Carl went through the process and training and acquired the necessary CDL through hard work and determination that was necessary for his new career endeavor. Carl was a successful and respected truck driver for over 26 years.
Carl developed an interest in karate. He started training with Sensei Anthony Lingo in 1985 in the art of Nisei Goju Ryu Karate at the New Jersey State Black Belt Association at Fairview Dojo in the Fairview Section of Camden where he attained the rank of Black Belt. His Dojo brothers were Tre Gardner and Marcellus Wooten. In 1990, Carl went on to continue his Goju Ryu training with Sensei P.L. Burnett at the P.L. Burnett’s Karate Dojo in Pennsauken. Carl competed in many tournaments where he consistently took home trophies and medals. His favorite weapons were the Jodo sticks and the Bo Staff.
Carl had many attributes that made him to be what we all knew, love, and respected about him. Carl was hard working, loving, giving, generous, family oriented, peaceful, great sense of humor and a definite “no-nonsense” man. Carl loved watching football and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys until Carl soon became an avid Eagles fan. He would watch the Eagles game with his grandson, Jaiden, and they would chant E...A…G...L…E…S!!! EAGLES!!!!!!!
Carl was a true family man and an awesome father to his children Nikera and Quan. He was a wonderful grandfather to his grandson, Jaiden, and loved to hear “PopPop” as soon as he came in the door. Carl was an awesome husband who spoiled his wife, Shakena, with whatever she wanted. They were each other’s world and best friend.
He leaves his wife, Shakena, his two children, Nikera and Quan, and grandson Jaiden Wall, brother Michael Proctor, mother-in-law Margie Day, his bonus mother Edith Gardner, and special brother Tre Gardner. He also leaves behind a host of siblings in Washington, DC, his cousin Sandra L. Carter, Uncle Abraham, Uncle Brian, and Aunt Benita.
Proceeding him in death are his parents Thomas Michael Proctor and Abrina Denise Spencer(Proctor), his Aunt Dolly and Uncle Ralph Carter, and his Grandmother Beulah Barrott along with a host of relatives and friends.
