Obituary of William S Noakes

William S. Noakes, 87, of Willingboro, New Jersey peacefully passed on September 25, 2021. He was born in August 7, 1934 in Culpeper, Virginia to the late George Levi and the late Florence Helen Noakes. Bill, as he was known by family and friends, grew up in Culpeper, Virginia where he joined the United States Air Force. After 20 years of military service he retired at McGuire Air Force Base, known today as Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst in New Jersey. As a civilian, Bill continued his career for the next 40 years as the Supply Warehouse supervisor at McGuire.
Bill was most proud of his wife, Edith of 44 years, his children, William S of Detroit, Michigan, Deborah E Smith of Renton, Washington; Karen R. of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Anthony T. of Fairfax, Virginia and her children Helen Holman of Ewing, New Jersey, Karen Johnson of Trenton and Thomas Johnson of Ewing, NJ.
Bill enjoyed traveling the east coast, being an the Board of Trustees and being an active member of St. Paul AME Zion church in Trenton and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s basketball and football games, competitions, award ceremonies, graduations, family gatherings and telling stories about how many miles he had to walk to school. He had an infectious laugh that would shine through while telling the stories. Besides being a great conversationalist, Bill was an avid fan of the Washington football team formerly know as the Washington Redskins, with Pittsburgh Steelers a close second.
In addition to his beloved wife and children he leaves to cherish his memory his sister Virginia B. Walker, Sister and Brother in-laws Helen Joelle, Anne Fraiser, Richard (Lucille) Reasoner, Judy Dowdy, Barbara (Roland) Blossom, his grandchildren William Noakes, Gian Noakes, Gabriel Noakes, Nia Smith, Jordan Smith, David Smith, Randall Noakes, Taylor Noakes, Christian Noakes, Anastasia Noakes, Tracey Smith, Raymond Holman, Isadore Shaw, Marvin Shaw and Thomas Johnson. His Great grandchildren Sam Noakes, Lehana, Layla and Alexis Smith, DeQuan and Devon Holman, Richayla and Raichelle Smith, Mahki Simmons, Siani, Raymond and Destin Holman, and Zayden Shaw. Great Great Grand Hassee’n Bright and host of Nieces, nephews and friends.
