My earliest memories of Aunt Vivian and Uncle George are of a very tall, elegant couple who I knew my parents loved and admired. I never saw Aunt Vivian with a hair out of place or anything less than impeccably dressed. She was a gracious and generous woman who lived her life by standards one rarely sees today. Rest in glory Aunt Vivian!

Vivian Dorset Solomon was a woman of great strength, intelligence, spunk and grace. She was a true blessing as she served as one of the pillars of the Hollis Presbyterian Church. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a joy to be around. Way ahead of her time she was became a Nurse and graduate of Columbia University. At church she was the first African American and woman to be the Clerk of Session, a position she held for 50 years.
My heart goes out to all family members and friends who mourn her loss, especially to Huey who must be confused as to why she is not with him. I wanted so much to be there in person for the memorial service but after looking at the route to be travelled decided that discretion was the better part of valor. I will be watching remotely and will be there in spirit. God Bless you all.
