Obituary of Elayne D Ruffin
Please share a memory of Elayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ELAYNE D. RUFFIN (nee: Russell) was born on March 26, 1930, to the late Reverend James and Rosa Russell in Glassboro, New Jersey. She peacefully departed this life on October 27, 2021.
While growing up, Elayne’s father was an active local preacher in the community, thus she attended church services with her family and participated in Sunday School as a young child. She accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized at the age of 12 by her father at the First Baptist Church, Glassboro, where she remained a faithful life-long member. She served on the usher’s ministry and became an honorary usher until her health began to fail.
Elayne was educated in the Glassboro Public School System and graduated with the class of 1948 from Glassboro High School. In 1955 she married George A. Ruffin, the love of her life. They shared thirty-three years together before he preceded her in death. One daughter was born from their union. Elayne centered her world around her family, caring, loving, and being supportive. Although a quiet person in nature, she had a way of always letting you know what was on her mind. She enjoyed reading and had a special attraction to poetry.
During1992, Elayne retired from Owens Illinois/Anchor Hocking Company in Glassboro, after forty-seven years of dutiful employment as a machine operator.
Elayne is the last of twelve siblings to be called home by the Lord. What a day of rejoicing that must be. She leaves to cherish her memories, one beloved daughter, Joyce Elayne Ruffin, one precious granddaughter, Sharae Tara Ruffin, both of Sewell, NJ. Also, one caring God-daughter, Elayne Denise Verlander (Earl) of Mickleton, NJ; sister-in-law Gloria June Russell, brother-in-law Raymond Truehart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Lovingly submitted,
Family
