Obituary of Dr. Dawn Y. Garrison, Esq.
Please share a memory of Dr. Dawn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dawn Yvette Lee Garrison was born to Lela “Joyce” Lee on November 21, 1965, in Philadelphia PA. Dawn received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age.
She attended the New Testament Church of Christ in her early years then attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lawrenceville GA in later years. Dawn was educated in the Philadelphia school system, obtained a paralegal degree, bachelor's degree, Master's degree in education, and finally a Juris Doctorate of Law degree.
Dawn had a passion for children and teaching. Her first career was as a special education teacher prior to beginning a career in law. However, Dawn was well-known as an award-winning real estate agent in Philadelphia. When Dawn had a moment to relax she would listen to her favorite singer, Tina Marie.
Dawn was an avid gift giver. She loved to take time out to recognize the accomplishments of others. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She would spend time talking to her brother David about the joys of Christmas. Her most precious love was her love for pictures and memories.
Whenever Dawn would visit Philadelphia or have visitors at her home she was sure to feed them some of her delicious banana pudding and peach cobbler. Dawn gave the best advice and was a true advocate for children. Her love and dedication for her own children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were abundant.
Dawn leaves to mourn her children: DeShawn, Destiny who preceded her in death, Joshua, and her beloved daughter-in-law Christy. Her beautiful grandchildren who called her “Mimi” DeShawn Jr., David, and Destiny. Her loving Siblings: David, Wade, Turron (sister-in-law, Karen), and Sharona. She also leaves to mourn her aunt Josephine “Didi”, Uncle Tyrone, her loving fiancé’ Ken, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Special thanks to her Georgia School district family, her friends, and loved ones who supported her. Thank you to her dear friend Kyona, her baby cousins Katina and Tamika who loved her dearly.
Thank you to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
