Dorothy Dowling was born on March 8th1952 to Margaret Barther and was raised by Joseph H. Barther whom she respectfully called Dad.
As a child Dorothy grew up in Roebling New Jersey and was educated in the Florence school system. She lived and enjoyed most of her adult life in Florence New Jersey. She was a part of the Maplewood Homes community and became a member of St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Guy Clarence Bowens.
Dorothy was loved by many; she had a big heart for family and friends. She shared what she had with whoever was in need, her pantry was never big enough for her heart. She loved plants, flowers, fine clothes, jewelry and cooking. She loved dressing up, putting on makeup, jewelry with all accessories even if it was to sit in the house, she had a lovely voice and often you would find her listening to a record on the stereo, rocking in a chair and joyfully singing. She was loved by her nieces and nephews, she was a good cook, and together they would eat and drink until there was no more. She was a big sister, and her siblings were her guardians. They loved her, tried to protect her, fed her because she was their sister. As her Mother’s 1st born she was loved and protected in prayer the angels were watching over her. Her children were her jewels, she loved them, and they loved her even more through her and their life’s pain. She was our lily delicate and fragile in life.
Dorothy is predeceased by her father Joseph H. Barther. She leaves to cherish her legacy of love her children Delisha Breen (Damien), Brooks Dowling, and Amanda Dowling; her Mother, Margaret Barther, two brothers and three sisters, Robert Lee Bryant Moore (Corene), Evette Maynor (Timothy), Lionell Barther, Kimberly Barther, G. Rochelle Barther, and six grandchildren Tyrese, Jamar, Damien, Ailish, Davontay, Brooklyn, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving family and friends.
