Obituary of Johanna N Robbins

Please share a memory of Johanna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Johanna Robbins was born to Millie High on April 19, 1936, in South Philadelphia. She lived with her mother and grew up with her older siblings Billy, Grace and Thelma. In the 1950’s the family moved from Philadelphia to Camden, New Jersey, where Johanna grew up and attended public schools. Around the age of 25, Johanna met and married Zachary Robbins, a military man. Due to him being in the service, they relocated to Missouri where she lived for a short period of time. In the 1970’s Johanna moved back to New Jersey and lived off Broadway in the downtown Camden area. In the 1980’s, she moved to Pine Hill, NJ where she resided until her departure. For many years Johanna worked for Kennedy Hospital, which later changed to Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. She worked hard throughout her career and after 20+ years of service, she retired from Virtua Hospital in 2002. Back in the day, she enjoyed attending family functions, BBQ’s and Holiday gatherings. Her favorite beer used to be Miller’s beer, and you would rarely see her without one nearby. She loved to laugh and pick on people, especially when it came to friends and family members. In fact, it was very uncommon for someone to be in her presence without her having something funny to say about them. This is part of what made Johanna so much fun to be around…her sense of humor was infectious. Johanna also had a nickname for everyone, whether you knew it or not! She enjoyed doing hair, dining out, good music, and shopping for specialty antiques & figurines. Johanna started having serious health issues in 2019, after having surgery. For the next 2+ years her nephew Gregory took care of her, saw that she was taken to all of her doctor appointments and made sure that all of her needs were met. Growing tired of going in and out of the hospital, Johanna held on for many months until she left us on January 8, 2022. Johanna was predeceased by her mother Millie High, her brother Billy High, and her two sisters Grace High and Thelma High. She is survived by her only daughter Mildred Williams, her grandson Douglass, her nieces and nephews Gregory, Jerome, Darlene, Darryl, Robbin and Dom, and many, many loving great nieces, nephews and cousins. While not blood relatives, Johanna always talk about her closest friends, Rose and Pat-Pat. She loved them dearly and always spoke highly of them to the family. Although she would not approve of a full page about her life being written, Johanna would agree that there’s no need to cry for her because she is now free…
