PAUL ANDREW FISHER
Paul Andrew Fisher was born on Friday, February 17, 1956 at West Jersey Hospital in Camden, NJ to parents Sandra Fisher and George Hammond. Paul transitioned this life on Saturday January 8, 2022.
Raised in the Centerville section of the city Paul enjoyed life. Played several sports , basketball, baseball and football primarily for the Centerville Simba’s. Broken fingers and bad weather didn’t deter him from playing sports. He excelled in sports, receiving many awards and trophies. His childhood was filled with love and admiration from family and friends. Paul was encouraged by his mother and grandmother to
become a good man and he took heed.
While attending Camden school system he found his love for music and never looked back. A brass trumpet started him on a musical journey that lasted a lifetime. At age 17 he join a phenomenal, unparalleled band “ The New Side of Town”. He loved It! Paul became a proud father to his first son, Lanse.
After graduating from Camden High in 1974 a few months later he entered the army. Sgt Paul Fisher spent the next 10 years in the service. Paul married Marcy Miller, had two children Nikia and Paul Jr born in Germany. When he wasn’t leading troops he played basketball for the army in Baumholder, Germany. All the while playing Jazz on his horn and loving his family.
Paul Fisher better known as Ninky to the family was a giant among men. Thoughtful, kind, loyal, funny, hard working, awesome cook, smart and God fearing, is what he was. Paul married Cynthia Saffo in May 1986. They had one son, Robert” Robbie”. During the height of the covid pandemic he managed a pantry in North Camden feeding countless families and people who needed help during a bleak time. Paul was a front line hero caring about others.
Paul was predeceased by his mother and father, grandmother Doris Fisher, and his niece Irie. All of whom played an integral part in his life. He leaves to cherish his memories Sisters: Paula Fisher, Joy Thorton, Holly Walker. Children: Lanse Merrill, Nikia Fisher, Paul Fisher Jr., Robert Fisher,. Stepdaughter Tanasia Green. 12 Grandchildren: Terryse,Santana, Dominique, Lanse Jr.,Andrew, Jeremiah, Dashawn, Daniel, Ernest, Onayiah, Josiah, Myiah. 3 great grandchildren. Nieces and Nephews: Noreice, Paul, Keyosha, Krystal, Toya,Jasmine, and Raven. Great Nieces and Nephews. And very special brothers: Dwight “Beard”, Doug, Kelvin, Kevin, James, Grady, Andre, Ira,and the Rev. Dr. James Lee. His Eagles family: Paul “P Diddy” and Curly. He held a very special place in his heart for Sacred Heart Church and School, Heart of Camden, and The Touch NJ Food Alliance and Pantry, Godsister Dawn and his buddy Willie and special friend Maria.
