Obituary of Joseph O Pickett,Sr.

Joseph Odell Pickett, known to all as “Joe” was born on July 9, 1971 to the late Joseph Odell Russell and Shelia Marie Pickett in Ft. Dix, NJ. On Sunday, January 23, 2022, the Lord called him home.
Joe was raised in Fieldsboro, NJ. He was educated in the Bordentown Regional School District where he obtained his High School diploma. While in school, Joe was active in the choir, and he was also on the basketball team. After school, he joined the United States Army where he served his country proudly. Joe’s military travels took him to Ft. Carson, Colorado, where his son, Joseph Odell Pickett II was born. His greatest love was his son.
Joe was an avid football fan. From a young boy, he was a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan through and through. He liked watching anime cartoons and playing video games. He was a good artist. Joe was a protector with a kind heart.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his grandfather, Oscar Pickett. Loving memories of Joe will by cherished by his son, Joseph Odell Pickett II, of Trenton, NJ; step-daughter, Meghan M. Dunn, of Atlanta, GA; his grandmother, Edith Pickett, of Hainesport, NJ; his brother, Michael A. Petteway of Seattle, WA; three sisters, Felica M. Thompson of Raeford, NC, Inne Petteway (Blake Hall) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nakia Lee (Aaron) of Middleburg, FL; five aunts, Mary E., Pickett, and Marlene Pride both of Willingboro, NJ, Carlita Sherman (Mark) of Hainesport, NJ, Freda D. Pickett of Beulaville, NC, and Jeanette D. Pickett of Burlington, NJ; two uncles, David S. Pickett, and Myron A. Pickett both of Burlington, NJ; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved friend, Cynthia Miles of Delaware.
